I dreamt of cats last night; cats who promised that they would tell me a secret for the price of a fish. I opened my knapsack and found three beautiful fish inside, bright yellowfin tuna, scales gleaming under the light of a full moon.
I approached a Calico cautiously; cautiously because everyone knows that Calicos are the most evil of all cats. I pulled out a fish and put it down of the concrete floor. I backed away and waited as the air began to smell of fish.
"You still haven't found what you're looking for," the Calico said behind a snarl, fresh fish blood dripping from its whiskers.
A firefly zipped past, leaving trails of bright orange in the pale moonlit surroundings. I followed it with my eyes, and found a tabby cleaning itself underneath a park bench. I knelt down with my offering of yellowfin tuna.
The tabby stared at me, eyes glowing in the darkness. "You are more tired than you believe," it said between bites.
The moon flickered, and where the park bench once was lay a beautiful Siamese, bright sapphire eyes turning everything blue. I took the last fish out of my knapsack and offered it to her. The Siamese yawned, looked away and whispered "you are falling in love."
Rain started to fall, and slowly the smell of fish was replaced by the smell of red and yellow flowers suddenly growing on the concrete. And in the pale moonlight, everything glowed like silver.
